Metal
wine barrel rings
As a resident of a wine Chateau in Southern France, I stumbled upon retired wine Barrels
The mostly galvanized steel rings contribute to stabilizing the structure of the barrel.
They hold the wooden staves of the barrel together and prevent the wood from expanding or contracting under the pressure of the wine.
I was particularly drawn to the barrel rings with their unique, sometimes rusty patina
and structure.
With this inspiration, I began shaping and crafting the rings into fish silhouettes for a second life.

Enriching spaces with their wonderful patterns of light, they cast on ceilings evoke a sense of wonder and awe, adding a touch of magic to any room.

These sculptures tell tales of the past, breathing new life into old barrel rings as fish bodies and bed springs found new purpose as scale.
